Jhajjar, Feb 16: Jhajjar police have apprehended a Chartered Accountant in connection with the death of his wife, a Gurugram-based banker, whose body was discovered near Pahsaur village on the night of February 14. The suspect, identified as Anshul Dhawan, was taken into custody after investigators noted significant discrepancies in his account of the evening’s events.

The victim, Mahak, had married Dhawan in September 2025 and worked at a private bank in Gurugram. According to the police, the couple was traveling to Gurugram when the incident occurred. While the suspect’s family initially suggested an accident had taken place, relatives who arrived at the scene found the victim in a field with deep wounds caused by a sharp-edged weapon.

A spokesperson for the Jhajjar police stated that the accused initially attempted to describe the incident as a robbery. However, authorities maintained that sustained questioning led to a confession. The spokesperson affirmed that the evidence gathered at the site contradicted the suspect’s initial claims of a random attack or accident.

The victim’s brother, Akshay, stated in a formal complaint that the family believes the killing was a premeditated act. He noted that the couple had just left for Gurugram earlier that day before the family received the notification regarding the alleged mishap. Police officials declared that a thorough investigation is ongoing to establish the full sequence of events leading to the crime.
