Police Conduct Property Raids Following Major Arrest

UK Prime Minister affirms legal equality as misconduct probe targets former trade envoy

by TheReportingTimes

London, Feb 19: Thames Valley Police executed search warrants at multiple addresses on Thursday following the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The investigation centers on allegations that confidential information may have been shared during his tenure as a trade representative for the Department of Business. Police officials stated that the suspect, a man in his sixties, was detained in Norfolk and continues to be questioned by investigators.

Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace have both acknowledged the gravity of the situation, with official statements affirming that their thoughts remain with the victims of any form of abuse. A palace representative stated that the King is mindful of the ongoing public interest and would cooperate with Thames Valley Police if formally approached. This move follows the King’s decision last year to remove his brother’s remaining royal titles and military affiliations.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer maintained that the core principles of the British justice system must be applied across the board, regardless of an individual’s status. He declared that the government supports the independence of the police in conducting such high-profile investigations. “One of the core principles in our system is that everybody is equal under the law,” the Prime Minister affirmed, stressing that the rule of law is a long-standing pillar of society.

The investigation remains active, with cyber units and legal experts reviewing files recently made public in the United States. Authorities asserted that care should be taken with any publications to avoid interfering with the judicial process. While the force has not released specific details of the evidence being sought at the Berkshire and Norfolk properties, they affirmed that the sanitization of these locations is part of the standard investigative procedure.
