KAPURTHALA , Feb 21— Law enforcement agencies successfully neutralized two separate drug smuggling attempts on Saturday, resulting in the arrest of three local men. The operations targeted the transport of both heroin and prohibited intoxicant tablets across the district.
The most significant recovery occurred near Thammuwal village, where police intercepted a sedan carrying a large quantity of heroin. Investigators asserted that the two occupants, Baljit Singh and Lovepreet Singh, were transporting a combined total of 203 grams of the substance.
“The contraband along with the vehicle was taken into possession,” a police spokesperson declared, noting that both individuals were detained following the search. Authorities maintained that the amount seized qualifies as a commercial quantity under existing narcotics laws.
In a separate incident in Bhulath, police apprehended a resident identified as Gaurav Gill. Officers noted that the suspect exhibited suspicious behavior at Sadda Chak Adda, where he allegedly tried to dispose of a packet containing 190 white-colored tablets.
Following the discovery of the prohibited medication, the police took Gill into custody. Officials declared that these arrests are part of a broader strategy to disrupt the local narcotics supply chain and that further investigation into the source of the drugs is ongoing.
