Panchkula, Jan 14: A Saketri-based auto-driver has been taken into custody for the hit-and-run death of retired Lieutenant General KS Mann in Panchkula. Police officials confirmed the arrest of Om Prakash on Wednesday, marking a breakthrough in a case that occurred on January 9 near the Mansa Devi Complex.
The victim, who was 87, was involved in the fatal collision while walking in the MDC area. Following the incident, the local police have committed to improving the monitoring of key traffic points to prevent future tragedies.
“The MDC area is regularly patrolled, and security will be strengthened with CCTV cameras at traffic lights and key locations,” Inspector Munish Kumar noted.
The suspect, a native of Churu, Rajasthan, was identified nearly a week after the incident. Authorities noted that the investigation involved tracking the vehicle’s movement through the area before making the arrest. The case was formally registered after the victim’s wife provided a statement to the authorities.
