CHANDIGARH, August 7 — The Punjab government has appointed new chairmen and members to district planning boards across the state in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots development and ensuring more effective implementation of welfare schemes.
According to an official press release, the decision is intended to accelerate the pace of development at the district level while tailoring schemes to the specific needs of local communities. The newly constituted planning boards are expected to function as a bridge between the administration and the public.
“Through these boards, the voice of the common people will be integrated into the planning process, making development work more people-centric and effective,” the statement said.
Congratulating the appointees, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took to X (formerly Twitter) to welcome the new team. “New chairmen and members of district planning boards have been appointed. Best wishes to all on their new responsibilities. A warm welcome to everyone in the Rangla Punjab team,” Mann posted.
“I hope all will fulfil their responsibilities with hard work and dedication, and make a significant contribution to the progress and prosperity of Punjab,” he added.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government underlined that the appointments are part of its broader mission to ensure inclusive governance. “The aim of the government is to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach every deserving citizen without discrimination,” the press release stated.
The new planning boards are expected to play a key role in aligning local needs with state-level policy priorities and improving the delivery of public services across sectors.
