Chandigarh, Dec. 2 — The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Punjab as a cold wave sweeps the state from December 2 to 5, officials said Monday.
Residents of Ferozepur, Faridkot, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Fazilka, Bathinda, Moga, Jalandhar, Barnala, Sangrur, and Patiala are advised to stay warm. “Dense fog is expected during this period, and temperatures may drop by 2 to 4 degrees,” the department said.
“Pathankot and Bathinda are currently the coldest districts,” the official added. Citizens were urged to wear adequate clothing, take care of vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and pregnant women, and limit outdoor exposure during peak cold hours.
The department also cautioned that reduced visibility due to fog could affect travel, and asked people to drive carefully.
