Punjab CM launches flying squad to oversee link road repairs

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, October 24: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has constituted a special flying squad to monitor the construction and repair of link roads across Punjab, the government announced on Thursday.

The squad includes senior officers from the Punjab Mandi Board and the Public Works Department (PWD). Davinder Singh, Baldev Singh, Manpreet Singh Dua, and Rajiv Saini, all Superintending Engineers, will lead inspections in the Malwa, Majha, and Doaba regions.

“The main objective of this flying squad is to maintain transparency and accountability in road repair works,” said a PWD official. “They will examine the quality of construction and maintenance, ensuring projects meet the required standards.”

The move follows the launch of a Rs 3,425 crore scheme to repair 19,492 km of link roads starting from Tarn Taran. Government sources said the flying squads will travel across the state, inspect ongoing works, and submit reports directly to the Chief Minister’s office to prevent lapses in construction quality.

The initiative is part of CM Mann’s broader effort to improve road infrastructure and ensure that public funds are used effectively in state development projects.
