Chandigarh, Dec 1: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday set off on a 10-day tour of Japan, stepping up the state government’s ongoing campaign to bring in private industrial investment. Industry Minister Sanjeev Arora is part of the official delegation.

Speaking ahead of his departure, Mann said the visit will focus on convincing Japanese companies that Punjab is ready for large-scale projects. “I will meet industrial leaders and tell them about the pro-industry steps we’ve taken. Our goal is simple — more investment and more jobs,” he said.

The delegation will outline the state’s recent policy changes, including measures that aim to simplify approvals and improve the ease of doing business. According to officials, Mann wants to reassure global companies that Punjab can provide consistent support and improved infrastructure.

Mann will also extend invitations for an industry summit expected in March next year. “We want them to be part of the summit and explore the opportunities that Punjab is opening up,” he said.

The trip follows a series of domestic roadshows where government representatives have been meeting industrialists in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and other cities to build momentum ahead of the summit.
