Chandigarh, November 7, 2025: Punjab has dedicated a road in Hoshiarpur’s Chabbewal area to Sufi singer and poet Dr. Satinder Sartaj, the state government announced on Thursday. The move is intended to honor Sartaj’s artistic contributions and highlight Punjab’s rich cultural heritage.
“Through his music and poetry, Dr. Sartaj has enriched Punjabi culture and inspired countless young people,” said a spokesperson for the Chief Minister’s office. “Naming this road after him reflects the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting the state’s art, literature, and Sufi tradition.”
The Public Works Department (B&R Branch) issued an official notification for the renaming. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, who has spearheaded multiple initiatives for cultural revival, education, and youth empowerment, said the move also underscores Punjab’s pride in its sons of the soil.
The road inauguration is set for Monday, November 10, at 11 AM at Dana Mandi, Chabbewal. CM Mann will attend the ceremony alongside MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, and MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar. The event will be organized by the Public Works Department under Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain.
Officials said the dedication is more than a symbolic gesture. “Dr. Satinder Sartaj Road represents respect, inspiration, and the true spirit of Punjab,” the spokesperson added. “It highlights the government’s dedication to recognizing artists, connecting youth with their heritage, and strengthening cultural pride.”
