Chandigarh, 01 January 2025 – The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has introduced a new program to assist AIDS patients in the state. As part of this initiative, individuals living with HIV will receive a monthly financial aid of Rs. 1500 to help cover their basic living expenses.
In addition to the financial support, the government will offer free transportation to AIDS patients, enabling them to travel once a month to Anti-Retroviral Therapy Centers for treatment. This decision was made during the inaugural meeting of the State Council, chaired by Punjab’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh.
This move is part of a broader strategy by the Punjab government to improve the lives of those affected by HIV. A dedicated task force will also be set up to help increase the employability of HIV-positive individuals, promoting their social integration and ensuring they live with dignity, free from discrimination.
Chief Minister Mann emphasized that the program aims to enhance the quality of life for HIV patients and ensure they have access to necessary services without facing social stigma.
These initiatives demonstrate the Punjab government’s commitment to public welfare and fostering an inclusive society.
