Chandigarh, Sept 3: Government leadership in Punjab announced a major agricultural development initiative focusing on sustainable crop diversification and expanded market access for farmers. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann confirmed that the administration will establish a dedicated Knowledge Centre at Punjab Agricultural University with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
The Chief Minister declared that the overall program seeks to boost value-chain infrastructure for fruits, vegetables, floriculture, and allied sectors like beekeeping and mushroom farming. He asserted that developing advanced technical support and improved nursery practices will help conserve local water resources and enhance soil health. Authorities stated that technical extension services and processing infrastructure will receive priority focus under the planned phase-wise implementation.
