Punjab Police Arrest 119 in Statewide Drug Raids

Chandigarh, JAN 4: Punjab Police arrested 119 individuals in a major crackdown on drug smuggling across the state on Saturday, officials said. The operation, part of the ongoing “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, saw 347 raids conducted by over 120 police teams.

Punjab Police spokesperson said, “During the raids, 2.2 kg of heroin, 595 intoxicant tablets and capsules, and Rs 17,620 in drug money were recovered from the accused.”

The arrests followed the registration of 103 first information reports (FIRs) and bring the total number of drug smugglers apprehended in the last 308 days to 43,095, police added.

“Operations like these are aimed at dismantling the drug networks and keeping communities safe,” the spokesperson added.

Authorities noted that the campaign continues across the state, with regular raids and enforcement actions targeting both local and cross-border drug trafficking.
