Punjab Police Bust Pak-ISI Supported Module, Seize Grenades, RDX

BATALA, Aug 25 — Punjab Police on Monday said they have busted a Pakistan-ISI supported anti-national module and recovered four SPL HGR-84 hand grenades and a 2 kg RDX-based improvised explosive device (IED) from bushes near the road leading to Amritsar.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said, “The explosives were packed in a black metal box. In addition, police teams recovered a Baofeng dual-band FM transceiver, a D-shaped headset used with walkie-talkies, and other communication devices.”

Preliminary investigations revealed that the consignment was placed on the instructions of Nishan Singh, also known as Nishan Jodia, of the UK-based BKI, acting under directions from Harvinder Singh Rinda of the Pakistan-based TTP, supported by the Pak ISI, the DGP said.

One accused, Ravinder Pal Singh alias Ravi, a resident of Puria Kalan village, has been arrested, while raids are underway to apprehend another suspect, police said. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Batala Suhail Qasim Mir added that the consignment was collected through a dead letterbox technique as arranged by Nishan Singh.

Efforts are ongoing to arrest Nishan Jodia and deport him to India to face legal proceedings. “We have initiated correspondence with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Consulate General of India in Birmingham. The process for his deportation is underway,” SSP Mir said.

The police registered FIR No. 129 dated August 21, 2025, at Sadar Batala police station under Sections 3 and 4 of the Explosive Substances Act. As the network’s involvement became clear, sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) were also added to the case.

Authorities said the operation underscores ongoing vigilance against anti-national activities and cross-border terror links in Punjab.
