CHANDIGARH, June 1 — Punjab recorded its highest-ever May GST collection, clocking a 25.31% year-on-year growth to reach ₹2,006.31 crore, up from ₹1,601.14 crore in May 2024, state Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said on Sunday.
“This performance signals a robust and accelerating growth trend in Punjab’s fiscal health,” Cheema said, attributing the increase to strong tax administration, improved compliance, and a resilient economic environment fostered by the AAP government.
The minister noted that the latest figures outpaced the national average GST growth, reflecting Punjab’s commitment to curbing tax evasion, tightening enforcement and building a seamless taxation framework that supports businesses while protecting state revenue.
Cheema also highlighted that the achievement was especially significant given Punjab’s border state challenges, including India-Pakistan tensions and a war-like environment during the month.
