Chandigarh, September 1, 2025: All higher educational institutions across Punjab—including colleges, universities and polytechnics—will remain closed till September 3 in view of heavy rainfall and floods, state Higher and Technical Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced on Monday.

“The decision has been taken to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff,” Bains said. He added that administrations of institutions will be responsible for hostel residents and must provide essential services while addressing any concerns during this period.

The minister appealed to students and staff to strictly follow the advisories issued by district authorities. “The Punjab government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to the welfare of citizens, especially students, and is closely monitoring the situation,” he said.
