Pursue Containing ₹1 Lakh Stolen from Parked Car in Mohali

by TheReportingTimes

Mohali, April 28— The Phase-1 police on Saturday registered a case against an unidentified individual for stealing a woman’s purse, which contained ₹1 lakh, an ATM card, and other important documents.

The theft took place from a locked car parked in the Phase 5 market.

Supreet Singh, a resident of Jalandhar, told the police that he and his family had stopped in Mohali for dinner while on their way to Delhi.

After parking their vehicle at the market, Singh placed his wife’s purse on the back seat before heading into a nearby restaurant.

An hour later, upon returning, the family discovered that the rear window of the car was broken, and the purse was gone.

Singh immediately notified the police control room, and a team from Phase-1 police responded to the scene to investigate.

“We’re reviewing nearby CCTV footage to identify the suspect,” said a police officer handling the case.

This incident is part of a troubling pattern, as a Maruti Alto’s battery was stolen from the same market last month.

Authorities have filed charges against the unknown thief under Sections 303 (theft) and 324 (4) (mischief involving property damage) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
