Chandigarh, June 7: The Department of Computer Science & Applications (DCSA) at Panjab University has recorded an impressive 84.7% placement rate for its 2023–25 batch, reflecting strong industry engagement and academic excellence.
Out of the eligible students, 94 have already been placed, with 72.97% securing jobs through on-campus drives and another 11.73% through off-campus opportunities, according to placement statistics released by the department.
The highest cost to company (CTC) offered was ₹8 lakh per annum, while the average CTC stood at ₹5.76 lakh per annum. A total of 21 companies participated in the placement drive, with 14 actively recruiting, including six first-time recruiters.
Top hiring companies included Edifecs, Infosys, ChicMic, Jungleworks, and KeyMouseIT. The department, established in 1983, has a legacy of producing professionals who have gone on to work with global firms such as MediaTek, American Express, JTG, and Deloitte.
PU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig praised the department’s achievement, saying, “The remarkable placement results reflect the department’s commitment to academic excellence and alignment with evolving industry standards. By proactively bridging the gap between academia and real-world demands, DCSA is nurturing future-ready professionals.”
Jasleen Kaur Bains, the department’s training and placement officer, attributed the success to structured placement training. She said students were prepared through weekly aptitude assessments and domain-specific training modules, implemented via semester projects under industry guidance.
The department aims to continue enhancing its industry-academia interface, ensuring that students are equipped with technical knowledge and practical experience needed for evolving career landscapes in the field of computer science and applications.
