Rajasthan Gangster, 2 Aides Caught After Gurugram Shootout

GURUGRAM — July 30: Three men, including a wanted gangster from Rajasthan, were apprehended late Monday night following a brief encounter with a Gurugram crime branch team near Wazirabad village in Sector 95, police said Tuesday.

The main accused, identified as Shravan alias Sonu, 25, from Takia ki Dhani in Rajasthan’s Khairthal-Tijara district, opened fire at the police in an attempt to flee but was injured in retaliatory firing and overpowered.

“Shravan fired three rounds at the team after being intercepted. Despite warning shots and instructions to surrender, he continued shooting,” said Sandeep Kumar, public relations officer, Gurugram police. “Our team returned fire with two rounds, hitting him in the leg. He fell, and we managed to catch him.”

Shravan, who has 25 criminal cases registered against him in Rajasthan—including charges of attempted murder, extortion, and vehicle theft—had been evading arrest for several months. He is currently under treatment at the Sector-10A civil hospital and will be formally arrested once declared medically fit.

The other two suspects, Mangat Singh, 20, and Prince, 19, both residents of Alwar district in Rajasthan, surrendered after a chase and were taken into custody.

According to Kumar, the Sector 17 crime branch team received a tip-off about three armed individuals planning a robbery and moving through the Wazirabad area on a motorcycle between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.

During the arrest, police recovered a country-made pistol, five empty cartridges, one live round, a wooden stick, and the motorcycle used by the suspects.

An FIR has been registered against all three for attempted murder and possession of illegal arms under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.

“Shravan’s aides are being interrogated to trace other gang members,” Kumar added.
