Rajesh Chadha takes charge as Rotary Club president

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, July 28 — Rajesh Chadha was formally installed as the 31st president of Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik during a ceremonial event held on Saturday. The occasion was graced by chief guest Deepinder Inder Singh Sandhu, managing director of Chandigarh University.

Laying out his agenda for the 2025–26 term, Chadha underscored themes of collective humanity and shared purpose. “Our focus this year is rooted in the ideas of ‘Humanity Unites Mankind’ and ‘Unity for Good,’” he said, pledging to steer the club toward inclusive and impactful service.

Among the club’s key initiatives for the year are medical and blood donation camps, rural development programs in the village of Gurha, and assistance for underprivileged schoolchildren.

Chadha also announced an international collaboration with a Rotary Club in Malaysia to launch the “Rotary Dinner in the Dark,” the club’s flagship project designed to support and raise awareness for the visually impaired.

“This partnership will not only strengthen global ties but also draw critical attention to the challenges faced by the visually impaired community,” he added.

The Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, a global humanitarian service organization made up of business, professional, and community leaders who come together to promote peace, support education, improve health, alleviate poverty, and respond to community needs.

The Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik is one of many local Rotary clubs operating under Rotary International. These clubs are typically:

  • Non-political and non-religious, open to people of all cultures and backgrounds.
  • Structured to meet regularly and undertake service projects both locally and internationally.
  • Known for programs such as Polio eradication (End Polio Now), literacy campaigns, disaster relief, youth leadership development (Interact, Rotaract), and community development.

Each club elects a president every year. As noted in your story, Rajesh Chadha has been appointed the 31st president of Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik, and under his leadership, the club will focus on themes like humanitarian unity, health initiatives, education support, and awareness projects for the visually impaired.
