Rohit Sharma Turns 38: Happy Birthday Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, will celebrate his 38th birthday on Wednesday. One of the best batsmen in the limited overs game, Rohit has led India to two ICC titles while captaining the team. In June 2007, Rohit—also referred to as Hitman—played his debut ODI match. In September of the same year, he had the opportunity to make his T20 International debut. Rohit had to wait a long time to participate in a Test match, though. In 2013, he made his Test debut.

He leads in both Tests and ODIs

Under Rohit’s leadership, the Indian squad won the T20 World Cup the previous year. After 2013, this was Team India’s first ICC championship. In ODI cricket, Rohit Sharma is the only player to record three double hundreds. In 2013, he amassed 209 runs in Bengaluru against Australia. He then went on to hit 264 runs in 2014 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata against Sri Lanka. At the same time, at Mohali in 2017, he scored an undefeated 208 against Sri Lanka.

Most World Cup centuries

The player with the most hundreds in a single ODI World Cup is Rohit Sharma. He finished the 2019 World Cup with five hundreds. Rohit achieved an undefeated 122 in Southampton against South Africa, 140 in Manchester against Pakistan, 102 in Birmingham against England, 104 in Birmingham against Bangladesh, and 103 in Leeds against Sri Lanka. Nevertheless, Team India was unable to win the World Cup in spite of his five hundreds. In the semi-finals, it was defeated by New Zealand.

The player with the most IPL championships

Six times, Rohit Sharma has played for the IPL champion squad. The only player with six IPL victories is him. He played with the Deccan Chargers and won the 2009 Indian Premier League. He went on to win the IPL in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 while playing for the Mumbai Indians. The skipper with the most IPL victories is Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai Indians team has won five titles while he has been captain.
