Chandigarh, November 28, 2025 — Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Thursday said Rs 213 crore has been released to kickstart the ‘Rangla Punjab Scheme,’ aimed at improving villages, roads, and local facilities across the state.

“Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s vision, each assembly constituency has been allocated Rs 5 crore for development,” Cheema said at a press briefing. “Committees of MLAs and officials have been formed to ensure these funds are properly utilized.”

The Finance Minister said the first installment has been disbursed to panchayats based on recommendations from these committees. “We are continuously receiving proposals for development projects, and funds will be provided accordingly,” he said, acknowledging the Chief Minister for initiating the scheme.

Cheema underlined the government’s wider development focus, stating, “Recently, ₹334 crore has been released to Panchayats, Zila Parishads, and Panchayat Samitis. Our goal is to ensure no village or city is left behind.”

Highlighting sports and infrastructure initiatives, he added, “More than 3,000 stadiums are being constructed, and 19,000 kilometers of roads are being strengthened across Punjab. Unlike previous governments, which delayed projects until the final year, we have been delivering from day one.”
