SAD workers protest missing names at Dakha polling station

by TheReportingTimes

Ludhiana, Dec 14: Tension briefly flared at a polling station in Baddowal village of Dakha after Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) workers alleged that their names were missing from the voters’ list during local bodies polling on Saturday.

SAD workers gathered outside the polling station and accused the ruling party of deliberately deleting their names to prevent them from casting votes.

“Our names were there earlier, but today we were told they are missing. This is a deliberate attempt to stop us from voting,” a SAD worker alleged.

Police officials intervened to calm the situation and prevent any disruption to the polling process.

DSP Varinder Khosa rejected claims of large-scale irregularities and said polling across Dakha was proceeding smoothly.

“Voting has been peaceful in the area. We are verifying complaints related to voter lists as per procedure,” Khosa said.

Polling continued under police watch, and no major law-and-order incident was reported from the constituency, officials said.
