CHANDIGARH/SIRSA, Aug 1 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday released over ₹52 crore in crop loss compensation to 22,617 farmers affected by hailstorms and heavy rainfall during the 2024–25 rabi season. The relief, calculated through the Kshatipurti portal based on verified reports of crop damage, covers 57,485 acres across 15 districts.
“Compensation has been disbursed after rigorous physical verification of damage claims submitted between December 2024 and March 2025,” a government spokesperson said. The payouts were made as per established norms under the state’s disaster relief policy.
Rewari district received the highest compensation of ₹20 crore, followed by Mahendergarh with ₹10.74 crore, Jhajjar ₹8.33 crore, Gurugram ₹4.07 crore, Charkhi Dadri ₹3.67 crore, and Bhiwani ₹2.24 crore. Other districts received varying amounts based on the extent of verified damage.
While launching the new website of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department — revenueharyana.gov.in — Saini said the portal would ensure transparency and help plug systemic leakages.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Vipul Goel, also present at the launch, said Haryana is making significant strides in transforming land governance. “Initiatives like the Haryana Large Scale Mapping Project (HaLSMP) and Modern Revenue Record Rooms (MRRR) will protect critical land records from both natural and human threats,” he said.
Later in the day, the Chief Minister paid homage to revolutionary martyr Shaheed Udham Singh at a state-level function held at Baba Bhuman Shah Dham in Sangar Sarista, Sirsa, marking his martyrdom day.
“Udham Singh’s unwavering courage in the fight against colonial oppression remains a beacon of patriotism,” Saini said, adding that his sacrifice continues to inspire generations.
To honour the martyr, Saini announced that Bara Suleman village in Hisar would be renamed Udampura. He also announced that a government Ayurvedic college and hospital would be considered in Baba Bhuman Shah’s name after feasibility studies.
Further, he pledged to allot land to the Kamboj Sabha in Panchkula and prioritise similar requests from the Sabha in Kaithal, Fatehabad, and Jagadhri.
On the rising demand for OBC reservation in Class I and II government jobs, Saini said, “The matter will be taken up with the OBC Commission.”
