NEW DELHI, August 7 — The Supreme Court collegium has approved the elevation of judicial officer Ramesh Kumari as a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

In a resolution passed during a meeting held on Thursday, the three-member collegium, led by Chief Justice of India BR Gavai and comprising Justices Surya Kant and Vikram Nath, gave its formal nod to the proposal. The decision has been uploaded on the apex court’s official website.

The move marks another step in strengthening the judicial strength of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which has been functioning under a growing caseload.

Kumari’s name was recommended after careful consideration of her service record, integrity, and judicial performance, the resolution noted.

The appointment now awaits final clearance from the central government, following which a formal notification will be issued.
