Kaithal, Sept. 4 — All schools and anganwari centres in Guhla subdivision of Kaithal district will remain closed on September 5 due to rising water levels of the Ghaggar river, Deputy Commissioner Preeti announced on Thursday. The closure has been ordered under the powers conferred by Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

Addressing the public, the DC said the situation in the district is under control and urged residents not to panic. She assured that the administration “stands with the people at all times.”

Citizens were advised to remain indoors, keep cattle and other animals sheltered, and avoid unnecessary travel during the ongoing heavy rainfall. The public has also been instructed not to go to fields in waterlogged or flood-prone areas.

“Any violation of these orders will invite action under the relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005,” the DC added. The orders are in immediate effect and will remain so until further notice.
