Chandigarh, March 19: Two men allegedly responsible for the brazen killing of a property dealer in Chandigarh were taken into custody on Thursday following an exchange of fire with the Punjab AGTF. The suspects, identified as Pritam Shah and Rajan, alias Piyush Pehelwan, were tracked to Kaithal a day after the fatal shooting of Chamanpreet Singh in Sector 9.

According to police reports, the operation resulted in injuries to both suspects after they attempted to fire upon the capturing teams. DGP Gaurav Yadav asserted that the swift action by the AGTF successfully unmasked a criminal module linked to gangster Lucky Patial. The DGP stated that the recovery of three specialized pistols from the suspects’ possession would provide critical evidence in the ongoing homicide investigation.

Preliminary findings indicated that Pehelwan had a significant criminal history and had circumvented border security to enter the country from Nepal. Officials declared that he was a person of interest in multiple violent crimes across the region. The police maintained that the accused were part of a coordinated effort to execute the attack on Singh, who was shot repeatedly in a public parking lot.

The Chandigarh police and Punjab AGTF affirmed that the recovery of the getaway vehicle and the weapons marks a major breakthrough in the case. Investigators stated that the focus has now shifted to tracing the logistical support provided to the shooters. The authorities maintained a professional stance on the progress, affirming that the rule of law remains the priority in addressing gang-related violence.
