Chandigarh/Panchkula, Feb 9: Security agencies launched massive search operations on Monday after the Punjab and Haryana High Court and a district court in Panchkula received separate bomb threats. The threats triggered immediate evacuations and led to the deployment of specialized units to ensure the safety of the premises.
In Panchkula, an email claiming a bomb had been planted within the court complex prompted the local administration to clear the building. Haryana Police officials confirmed that the area was cordoned off as technical teams arrived to inspect the site.
“Upon receiving the information about the threat, a bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs, accompanied by a heavy police force, were sent to the spot,” a police official mentioned regarding the Panchkula operation.
Simultaneously, a high state of alert was declared at the Punjab and Haryana High Court following a similar threat to blow up the building. The high court complex was evacuated as a precautionary measure, causing significant disruption to legal proceedings.
“The Panchkula Court complex has been evacuated,” police noted, adding that heavy deployment and systematic checks are being carried out across both locations to rule out any danger.
Authorities are currently conducting a thorough sweep of all rooms and parking areas. While no suspicious items have been reported yet, the police are tracking the digital trail of the threat messages to identify those responsible for the panic.
