Security Scare in Mohali Schools

Ten private institutions evacuated following bomb threat emails

by TheReportingTimes

Mohali, Feb 11: Panic gripped Mohali on Wednesday as at least ten private educational institutions, including YPS Mohali and Learning Paths School, received bomb threats via email. School managements immediately ordered the evacuation of premises, sending students home safely as a precautionary measure while police and bomb disposal squads launched intensive search operations.

“So far, no government school in the district has reported receiving any threat,” stated Mohali District Education Officer Dr. Ginni Duggal. She noted that between eight to ten private schools informed her of the threatening communications. Dr. Duggal immediately alerted Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and senior police officials to coordinate a response.

The emails reportedly mentioned varying dates of concern, specifically February 11 and February 13. In response, anti-sabotage teams were deployed to scan buildings at Manav Mangal School, Shivalik Public School, Paragon Senior Secondary School, and Infinite Jesus School, among others. No suspicious objects have been discovered during these searches.

District authorities have advised all school managements to remain closed and cooperate fully with law enforcement. Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal is supervising the situation as investigators work to trace the digital footprint of the emails. Officials admitted that creating a permanent system to filter out such diversionary threats remains a significant challenge.
