DHURI, Feb 25: Work has officially started on a ₹10.76-crore infrastructure project in Dhuri aimed at improving road connectivity along the town’s central drain. The project will see the development of 14.25 km of service roads across multiple vital routes, including the Jagatpura to Bardrwal Road and the Mansa Devi Temple Road.

Market Committee Chairman Rajwant Singh Ghulli declared that the roads are part of a broader push to modernize the Chief Minister’s constituency. He was joined by Dr. Anwar Bhasaur for the project’s launch, which utilizes both bituminous paving and interlocking tiles to ensure durability and ease of movement for local commuters.

The launch coincides with several other high-profile projects in the area. Last week, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema inaugurated road works worth ₹7.82 crore connecting Satauj village. Additionally, infrastructure upgrades in Kaulsedi village recently saw the installation of solar LED lights and CCTV cameras at a cost of ₹20 lakh.

Government representatives maintained that these initiatives align with Dhuri’s recent adoption under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s aspirational blocks programme. With the railway ministry also granting ₹54 crore for a long-awaited overbridge, officials asserted that the combined efforts will significantly transform the region’s transport landscape.
