Seven Juveniles Detained in Kaithal Double Murder

by TheReportingTimes

KAITHAL | May 20, 2025 — In a rapid breakthrough, Kaithal police have detained seven juveniles in connection with the brutal murder of two teenagers from Barta village, while the investigation continues to identify additional suspects.

The victims, Arman (16) and Prince (14), both residents of Barta, were found dead near a village drain on the morning of May 19, hours after they had gone missing. Their bodies bore deep head and body injuries inflicted by sharp-edged weapons, according to DSP (Headquarters) Bir Bhan.

“Based on the evidence so far, the killings appear to be an act of revenge,” the DSP said. “We’ve learned that a few days earlier, the victims were warned by other village youths over alleged harassment of their sisters.”

The accused minors, all aged between 15 and 16, were produced before a juvenile court and subsequently sent to a juvenile detention centre. Police said seven out of nine teenagers believed to be involved have been identified and apprehended.

Rohtash, Prince’s father, lodged the initial complaint after both boys failed to return home from an evening walk on May 18. A search operation was launched, and their bodies were discovered the next morning.

Following the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 190, 191(3), 103, 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Superintendent of Police Astha Modi visited the crime scene and directed officials to carry out a meticulous investigation.

The victims’ bodies were handed over to their families after post-mortem and were cremated the same evening.

“We are thoroughly verifying the roles of all those involved,” the DSP added. “More detentions may follow as the investigation progresses.”
