Chandigarh, Sept 6 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday announced that the state will observe “Sewa Pakhwada” from September 17 to October 2 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday.
Saini said the fortnight would see statewide public service activities, including welfare programmes, cleanliness drives, and initiatives under both state and central government schemes. “We all must work together to make Sewa Pakhwada a success,” the Chief Minister told officials during a review meeting.
According to an official spokesperson, departments across Haryana have been directed to prepare detailed plans. The Health Department will hold medical check-up camps, while the Social Justice and Empowerment Department will run programmes for the welfare of differently-abled persons. Several other departments will organise cleanliness campaigns and voluntary labour, or shramdaan, in public spaces.
Blood donation camps, plastic-free awareness campaigns, and tree plantation drives will also be conducted as part of the fortnight-long observance. Saini noted that such activities would help spread the spirit of service and collective responsibility.
The Chief Minister pointed out that over the past 11 years, numerous public welfare projects and schemes have been launched under Modi’s leadership, which he said serve as inspiration for the initiative. “Inspired by the Prime Minister’s philosophy of life, the people’s sense of service will be further strengthened during this period,” Saini mentioned.
The state government has urged officials, departments, and citizens to actively participate in Sewa Pakhwada, describing it as an opportunity to blend public service with a sense of celebration.
