Shah Orders Swift Forensic Probe into Red Fort Blast, Asks FSL to Match Body & Site Samples

by TheReportingTimes

New Delhi, November 11 — Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday directed the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to match the samples collected from the victims’ bodies with those taken from the car and blast site near Red Fort, as the investigation into Monday’s deadly explosion gathered pace.

According to officials, Shah issued the instructions during a high-level review meeting held to assess the progress of the probe. It was his second review since the blast, which killed 12 people, injured 20 others, and destroyed multiple vehicles near Red Fort Metro Station.

“The Home Minister asked the forensic teams to analyse every collected specimen and share a detailed report as soon as possible,” said an official present in the meeting.

Senior officials from the Directorate of Forensic Science Services and the Delhi FSL briefed Shah about the ongoing analysis of the samples. He told agencies to coordinate closely and go into “minute detail” to establish the cause of the explosion.

Shah noted that top investigative agencies were already conducting a comprehensive inquiry into the incident. “The government is determined to get to the root of the blast and identify all those involved,” sources quoted him as saying.

Meanwhile, forensic teams are examining traces of explosive residue and burnt vehicle parts to determine the nature of the device used. Police said DNA testing would also be carried out to confirm the identities of the victims.
