HAMIRPUR, June 12 — Six members of a family were seriously injured when their SUV crashed into a large tree near Jolsapper village in Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur district on Thursday, police said.
The accident occurred while the family was en route to the Jwala Mata temple in Kangra district. Remarkably, a two-year-old child traveling with them escaped unhurt.
The injured, including four women, were first taken to a nearby private clinic for emergency care and were later referred to Hamirpur Medical College for advanced treatment.
Chain Singh, a resident of Theog in Shimla district and one of the injured, told police that he was driving his newly purchased SUV when the vehicle lost control and rammed into the tree. “We were heading to the temple for a family visit. It happened so suddenly,” he said.
The SUV was extensively damaged in the impact.
Nadaun police station in-charge Nirmal Singh confirmed that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.
