CHANDIGARH, Nov 10 — Turning remembrance into community service, the Punjab government has linked devotion with social welfare during Shaheedi Smaran Maah, the month-long commemoration of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s 350th martyrdom year.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the observance aims to ensure that Guru Sahib’s teachings inspire everyday service. “We want this remembrance to reflect in our actions — in seva, compassion, and equality,” he said.

Over 500 seva camps are operating across Punjab, where langars are being served daily. The Health Department’s 220 medical camps have provided free treatment and medicines to around 1.4 lakh people. The Education Department’s moral education initiative has engaged over 10 lakh students in essays, art, and cultural programmes exploring Guru Sahib’s life and values.

The state has also released a digital documentary series that has garnered lakhs of views online, marking the first time Punjab has combined religious and cultural history with modern technology to reach every household.

Mass participation has been witnessed in daily kirtan darbars, ardas, and nagar kirtans across districts, drawing more than 12 lakh devotees so far. The administration has reinforced security, medical assistance, and traffic management at major religious centres including Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Officials said the spirit of unity and brotherhood seen during the observances reflects Guru Tegh Bahadur’s message of standing for humanity and freedom of faith. “These celebrations have shown that Punjab doesn’t just remember history — it lives its teachings,” said a senior official.

From villages to cities, the month has transformed into a collective expression of Punjab’s devotion and resilience — reaffirming that, even after 350 years, Guru Sahib’s message continues to guide the conscience of the people.
