Chandigarh, June 20 — A Sreenivas, the current secretary of Haryana’s energy department and managing director of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (DHBVN), has been appointed as the new Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Haryana, according to an official order issued Thursday by the Chief Secretary’s office.
Sreenivas replaces Pankaj Agarwal, who held the CEO post prior to the latest administrative reshuffle carried out by the Haryana government on June 12.
As part of that reshuffle, Agarwal was also assigned the additional charge of principal secretary, agriculture and farmers welfare, a position contingent on approval from the Election Commission of India.
“The transfer and new appointments are in line with the ongoing administrative restructuring,” a senior government official familiar with the matter said. “Necessary concurrence from the Election Commission has been sought in accordance with protocol.”
The state bureaucracy has been undergoing realignment across departments, with key portfolios being reassigned to streamline governance ahead of upcoming electoral and policy priorities.
