Stalin Visits Ambedkar House in London

by TheReportingTimes

London, Sept. 6 — Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday visited the historic B.R. Ambedkar House in London, where the architect of India’s Constitution once lived during his studies at the London School of Economics.

Sharing his experience on social media, Stalin wrote that the visit evoked a profound sense of admiration. “Walking through its rooms, I felt a deep sense of awe. This was where a young man, once suppressed by caste in India, rose through knowledge to command respect in London and later became the chief architect of the Constitution of India,” he posted on X.

During the visit, Stalin also paused at a historic photograph of social reformer E.V. Ramasamy Periyar in conversation with Dr. Ambedkar. He said the moment reminded him of the enduring bond between two icons of social justice.

The Chief Minister extended his tributes beyond Ambedkar’s residence. He visited the memorial of philosopher Karl Marx, describing him as a guiding light for the working class. Quoting Marx’s famous words, “The point, however, is to change it,” Stalin wrote, “I paid my respects to the great genius Karl Marx, the red sun who gave light to the working class!”

Stalin’s UK trip also included participation in the Self-Respect Movement and its Legacies Conference 2025 at Oxford, where he reiterated his government’s commitment to the Dravidian path inspired by Periyar. He called the Self-Respect Movement “revolutions without weapons — without bloodshed.”

At the event, Stalin released two scholarly works: The Cambridge Companion to Periyar, edited by historian A.R.V. Chalapathy and Dr. K.R. Manoharan, and The Dravidian Pathway, authored by researcher Dr. K.R. Venkatesh. He described them as valuable contributions that preserve Periyar’s philosophy and trace how the social reform movement grew into a political force, leading to the DMK’s rise in Tamil Nadu.
