CHANDIGARH, February 28, 2026: The Punjab Government has reiterated its commitment to the welfare of police martyrs, announcing a comprehensive support package for the families of ASI Gurnam Singh and Ashok Kumar. During a visit to the martyrs’ home in Dinanagar, Cabinet Ministers declared that the state would provide ₹1 crore in financial aid and a government post to the next of kin, following the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak stated that the recent attacks are part of a broader design by foreign intelligence agencies to target India through Punjab. He maintained that the unity and brotherhood of the land would not be broken. “I urge the youth of Punjab not to fall prey to the traps and temptations spread by enemy nations,” the Minister asserted, adding that the state is the land of Gurus and martyrs.

Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar affirmed the alertness of the Punjab Police, stating that the arrest of the suspects within a single day demonstrates the effectiveness of the current administration. He noted that the government is focused on maintaining law and order and will not allow any interference with the state’s harmony.

The delegation, which included MLA Gurdeep Singh Randhawa and MLA Aman Sher Singh Sherry Kalsi, maintained that the Chief Minister would personally meet the families soon. Kalsi declared that those attempting to disturb Punjab’s peace will not be spared, emphasizing that the government’s primary focus remains the total eradication of gangsterism.

The ministers concluded by noting that while traditional political parties often attempt to demoralize the police force for political gain, the people of Punjab recognize the bravery and dedication of their officers. They affirmed that the administration would continue to prioritize the security of the border state against all internal and external threats.
