Malerkotla/ Ropar, Feb 13: Protests erupted across Punjab on Thursday as the Aam Aadmi Party targeted Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa for his controversial statements directed at Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO. The AAP leadership has labeled the remarks as “casteist” and “derogatory,” claiming they expose a deep-seated bias within the Congress party against marginalized sections of society.

From Amritsar to Sangrur, AAP workers and supporters took to the streets to demand accountability. The party leadership stated that the comments have hurt the sentiments of artists, laborers, and the Dalit community at large. They emphasized that Punjab’s social fabric is built on mutual respect and equality, which such remarks threaten to disrupt.

“Bajwa’s words are proof of a casteist mindset that the people of this state have repeatedly rejected,” Baltej Pannu mentioned while addressing the media.

The AAP spokesperson challenged the Congress party to clarify if the views expressed by the Leader of the Opposition represent their official stance. The party has called upon the Congress President to publicly condemn the remarks or face continued agitation across the region.

“We will not allow anyone to humiliate the working class or harm the dignity of the marginalized,” Pannu noted during the proceedings.

The protests spanned all major administrative blocks, including Ludhiana, Patiala, and SAS Nagar. Party representatives stated that the movement would gain further momentum if the Congress leadership remains silent on the matter.

“Our struggle will persist until there is an unconditional apology for this behavior,” the party mentioned in its official statement.
