Mohali, August 20: The state administration has partnered with Software Technology Parks of India to launch Neuron 2.0, an expanded incubation center located at STPI Mohali. The ₹29-crore venture focuses heavily on deep-tech domains, adding specialized cybersecurity facilities alongside artificial intelligence and data analytics infrastructure.
Cabinet Minister Aman Arora maintained that expanding the technological scope of state-backed incubation centers is vital to long-term economic planning.
“By adding cybersecurity to our existing domains, we are strengthening the state’s startup ecosystem and preparing our youth for future opportunities,” Industries and Commerce Minister Aman Arora declared.
The agreement was formally executed by Director of Industries Jaspreet Singh and STPI Director Shailendra K Tyagi. Under the funding model, the Punjab Government provides ₹12 crore, while STPI finances the remaining ₹17 crore.
The facility is configured to deliver end-to-end support including seed funding connections, product testing, and commercialization mentoring. Beyond incubation for 50 select startups, STPI will host hackathons, bootcamps, and three-tiered skill development courses—spanning foundation to expert levels—for university scholars and public school students. The expansion seeks to build upon the performance of Neuron 1.0, whose portfolio companies successfully raised ₹251 crore in private investment.
