CHANDIGARH, Nov. 20 — Punjab’s government presented a comprehensive industrial reform agenda at the CII Northern Region council meeting in Amritsar, leading to SUJAN committing ₹150 crore to the state’s hospitality sector, beginning with the holy city.

CII Northern Region Chairperson Anjali Singh welcomed Minister Sanjeev Arora and said the investment signals Punjab’s emergence as a preferred destination for high-quality projects. “With the government’s progressive steps and ‘Ease of Doing Business’ reforms, we expect significant growth in tourism-based investment,” Singh said.

She also recommended government action on promoting land banks, improving cold-chain facilities, highlighting heritage sites, and appointing brand ambassadors to enhance Punjab’s global and national visibility.

Arora said the state is laying the foundation for a future-ready industrial ecosystem. “Punjab is moving forward with a clear reform-oriented roadmap. We’ve formed 24 sectoral committees and will soon release a Master Industrial Policy—with dedicated policies for every major sector—giving investors long-term clarity,” he said.

He further highlighted Punjab’s long-term energy planning through 2035, covering thermal and renewable energy sources. On industrial infrastructure, Arora announced two exhibition centers in Mohali and Ludhiana, and a third one in Amritsar, with land identification ongoing.

The Minister also noted that under the ‘Right to Business’ law, Green category and many Orange category industrial units will receive permissions within just five days. Highlighting logistics and connectivity, he mentioned 10 ICDs, two freight container stations, two international airports, and the operational Adampur airport, with Halwara airport slated to boost capabilities further.

The event concluded with both government and industry leaders expressing optimism about Punjab’s growth trajectory, increasing investment opportunities, and the potential for tourism-led development, reinforced by SUJAN’s investment commitment.
