Pangi, April 15: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, during his visit to the remote Pangi valley in Chamba district, inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a series of developmental projects collectively worth several crores, while reaffirming the state government’s commitment to tribal development.
Addressing residents in Killar, the Chief Minister launched key infrastructure works, including the inauguration of the Mini Secretariat building built at a cost of ₹20.88 crore, a 50-bed Civil Hospital constructed for ₹19.83 crore, an ITI building worth ₹5.62 crore, a bus stand developed with ₹5.29 crore, and an alternate approach road to the bus stand built at ₹2.98 crore.
“The state government is committed to ensuring that tribal areas like Pangi receive equal opportunities for growth,” Sukhu said.
He also laid foundation stones for new facilities such as residential quarters for the Agriculture Department in Killar, estimated at ₹3.75 crore, additional classrooms at Government Senior Secondary Schools in Luj and Mindhal, a ₹2.13 crore sub-market yard in Killar, a new office building for the HPSEBL costing ₹49.42 lakh, and health sub-centres at Rei and Hudan tehsil, each budgeted at ₹1.99 crore.
During the visit, the CM also inaugurated an ATM of the Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank and planted saplings at the Public Works Department Rest House premises.
Upon arrival at the Dharwas helipad, the Chief Minister was warmly received by locals dressed in traditional attire. Panchayat representatives greeted him and presented community concerns.
Responding to local demands, Sukhu announced ₹25 lakh each for Mahila Mandal Bhawans in Dharwas and Lunj, an additional ₹10 lakh for a Mahila Bhawan in Lunj, and ₹1 lakh each for three other Mahila Mandals for equipment.
Encouraging clean energy adoption, he urged residents to explore solar energy projects. “The government will provide a 5% interest subsidy for setting up solar power plants ranging from 250 KW to 1 MW in tribal areas. In non-tribal areas, a 4% subsidy will be provided for projects up to 1 MW and 3% for those exceeding 1 MW,” Sukhu said.
The Chief Minister will spend the night in Killar and preside over the state-level Himachal Day celebrations on Tuesday. He was accompanied by Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, MLA Sunder Thakur, and other officials.
