Tarn Taran, Feb 18: A family in Tarn Taran has addressed rumors surrounding a viral video from a February 14 wedding, stating that the amount of money showered during the celebration was vastly exaggerated online. While social media posts claimed the family spent Rs 8.5 crore in a “cash rain” gesture, the groom’s brother maintained the actual figure was closer to Rs 2 lakh.

The footage, which gained significant traction across digital platforms, showed guests tossing currency notes into the air as the bride stood amidst a floor covered in cash. This traditional display of celebration sparked widespread debate, with many users dubbing the event a “grand cash party” and speculating on the massive wealth of the family.

Sikander Singh, the brother of the groom, affirmed that the viral figures were incorrect. He stated that his brother, who operates a trucking business in Australia, was simply celebrating his marriage in a traditional manner. “Social media exaggerated it into crores, which is wrong,” Singh asserted, noting that the festive gesture was a standard part of their local customs.

Professional staff present at the venue also supported the family’s account of the evening. The event manager and the DJ responsible for the function declared that the total amount of cash involved, including some foreign currency, was approximately Rs 4 lakh. They maintained that they were uncertain how the multi-crore figure began circulating.

Public reaction to the clip remained divided. While some viewers declared the display a vibrant expression of Punjabi culture and joy, others criticized the act as an unnecessary and flashy exhibition of affluence.
