Chandigarh, Feb 10: A major repair project at the Diggian Sewage Treatment Plant has led to a city-wide suspension of tertiary treated water in Chandigarh through February 14.
The Municipal Corporation initiated the pause on February 10 after identifying a critical need to swap out damaged components within the Phase 11 facility. This supply, which is distinct from the primary drinking water line, is utilized extensively for gardening and industrial purposes across the Union Territory.
An official from the Municipal Corporation directly said that the suspension resulted from the urgent requirement to replace a damaged system at the plant.
The maintenance team has been deployed to the Mohali-based site to oversee the transition and ensure the new hardware is integrated efficiently. This move aims to stabilize the supply chain following recent system vulnerabilities. Authorities noted that regular services are expected to resume once the installation is verified. For the duration of the work, the administration is focusing on completing the replacement without extending the current four-day window.
