CHANDIGARH, July 19 — A teenage boy remains in critical condition following a brutal attack by three assailants who, according to police, were known to the victim. The motive behind the assault is still under investigation.
“The motive behind the attack remains unclear, however, the attackers were known to the victim,” said a police officer familiar with the case.
The injured teen is undergoing treatment at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), where doctors have declared him medically unfit to provide a statement due to the seriousness of his injuries.
In the absence of the victim’s testimony, the police have proceeded based on a written statement from the boy’s father and preliminary findings. A case has been registered under Section 109(1) (attempt to murder) and Section 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, against three unidentified attackers.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to establish a motive and identify the suspects.
