Chandigarh, 24 December 2024 – A 19-year-old died, and three others were injured late Sunday night when their speeding Black Thar crashed into a tree near the Sector 34 police station gate. The collision occurred around 11:25 p.m., leaving the vehicle badly damaged.
Constable Baljinder Singh, on duty at the station, said he was alerted by the sound of the crash. “The car was speeding and went out of control before hitting the tree,” he stated. Emergency responders, including a PCR team and ambulances, quickly arrived and rushed the victims to nearby hospitals.
The deceased has been identified as Rounak, 19, a resident of Aerocity, Mohali.
He was pronounced dead at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32. The injured—Vinayak Sharma, Aryan, and Dhananjay Sharma—are receiving treatment at GMCH Sector 32 and Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16.
Police have registered a case under Sections 281 (rash driving), 125A (negligent actions endangering life), and 106 (death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The vehicle has been seized for further investigation.
