Chandigarh, Apr 27 — A 17-year-old boy was cornered, beaten, and stabbed by a group of unknown youths near a cyber cafe in Dadumajra on Friday evening, police said on Sunday.

The victim, identified as Sahil, alias Lucky, is a Class-11 student from Small Flats, Sector 38 (West), and remains hospitalized with a serious stab wound to his back.

According to police, the attack occurred at approximately 8:35 pm when Sahil went to the cyber cafe to collect his roll number.

As he approached the cafe, three to four youths confronted him, questioning him about another individual.

The assailants showed him pictures on their phones and accused him of associating with the person in question.

Despite Sahil denying the allegations, the group continued their aggression.

As Sahil attempted to leave, they blocked his path, assaulted him, and stabbed him multiple times.

Bleeding heavily, Sahil managed to return home, where his family rushed him to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to the PGIMER trauma centre for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the Maloya police were alerted. ASI Baljit Singh and Senior Constable Vikash Kumar, who were already patrolling, responded to the incident. Upon reaching GMSH, they learned of Sahil’s referral to PGIMER and proceeded to the hospital.

Sahil confirmed he could identify the attackers if presented to him and requested strict legal action against them.

A case has been filed under Sections 115(2), 126(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the unidentified assailants. The police have initiated an investigation and are working to identify the perpetrators.

This incident follows a similar attack on March 22, when a 19-year-old was stabbed to death by a group of youths in Ram Darbar Mandi Ground. Police had arrested three individuals, attributing the murder to an old rivalry.
