Patiala, July 27 — The Punjab government will soon send a third group of primary school teachers to Finland to receive training in modern teaching techniques, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced on Saturday.
Speaking during an interactive session with teachers in Patiala under the ongoing ‘Dialogue with Teachers’ initiative, Bains reaffirmed the government’s commitment to educational reform through international exposure and collaborative learning.
“The dedication and constructive feedback of our teachers have played a vital role in improving the education system. We are proud to support their growth with global learning opportunities,” Bains said.
The session opened with a two-minute silence in memory of the seven children who died in a recent school roof collapse in Jhalawar, Rajasthan. Bains acknowledged the tragedy and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.
He also assured educators that no member of any teachers’ union had been targeted or victimized under the current administration, calling it a government that “listens and responds” to the teaching community.
The Finland teacher training programme is part of a broader push to bring global best practices into Punjab’s classrooms, officials said. Two earlier batches have already undergone training in the Nordic country known for its progressive education model.
