Panchkula, March 17 — In a joint operation, the Crime Branch and local police arrested three individuals involved in mobile phone thefts, recovering a stolen device.

The suspects, who allegedly stole phones to fund their drug addiction, were apprehended by a team from the Amaravati police post. They were identified as Pankaj, alias Panku, and Dheeraj from Mahadev Colony, and Raj Kumar of Rampur, Surajpur.

The case originated from a complaint by Gurjeet Singh, a Zirakpur resident, who reported that his mobile phone had been stolen while he was asleep in his car near Rajjipur Chowk after dropping off a woman in Surajpur. His car window was open when the theft occurred.

Following an investigation based on a tip-off, police arrested the trio and recovered the stolen phone. They were presented before a magistrate and sent to judicial custody.

Police said efforts to curb thefts and robberies in the area would continue.
