Chandigarh, March 24 — Chandigarh Police arrested three men on Sunday for allegedly stabbing a youth to death in Ram Darbar on Saturday night.
The accused, identified as Suraj alias Hariyali, Karan, and Anshi— all residents of Ram Darbar— were taken into custody a day after the incident.
According to the police, the trio fatally stabbed Vivek near Tu Hi Tu Mandir around 7:30 pm on March 23, reportedly over an old rivalry. Vivek’s friend, Manish, who was with him at the time, informed his father, Ranvir Singh, about the attack.
In his complaint, Ranvir Singh stated that his daughter called him around 8:40 pm, informing him of the stabbing. He rushed to GMCH-32, where he met Manish, who narrated the incident.
Manish told the police that while he and Vivek were near a public toilet by the temple, three armed assailants attacked Vivek, stabbing him multiple times before fleeing. Passersby helped Manish rush Vivek to GMCH-32, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police said they are interrogating the accused to uncover more details about the motive and any possible involvement of other individuals.
