Mohali, July 28 — In 24-hour span, three two-wheeler riders lost their lives and two others were left critically injured in separate road accidents across Mohali district. All three fatal crashes occurred between Saturday evening and early Sunday morning, prompting a police investigation and public concern over road safety.

The first fatality was reported on Landran Road Saturday evening, where Geetik Narula, 28, a resident of Ambala, was returning home from work when another motorcycle collided with him. His father, Surinder Kumar, said Geetik was critically injured and later died during treatment. A case has been registered against the other rider based on the family’s complaint.

In the second accident, Ajay Kumar, 26, riding a Honda Activa scooter, was hit by a truck near Cheema light point. The driver fled the scene. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Ajay succumbed to his injuries. On the complaint of his brother Arun Kumar, Balongi police have registered a case against the unidentified truck driver.

The third and most severe crash took place around 3 a.m. on Airport Road, when a motorcycle carrying three riders lost control and rammed into a footpath. The rider, Aishwarya Kumar, 22, a native of Saharanpur and a resident of Kumbra village, died on the spot. He had just completed his shift at Bestech Mall and was riding with his friends Ayush and Bhagwan Das toward Kharar when the accident occurred.

“Aishwarya was overspeeding, and it appears he lost control of the motorcycle. The bike hit the pavement at high speed,” a police official said. Ayush and Bhagwan Das are admitted at PGIMER, Chandigarh, where their condition is said to be critical.

Police have registered three separate FIRs and are continuing their investigations into each incident.
